You know you have CF…
Yesterday on my last day in NYC I met up with my friend Piper who is a lawyer living in the city. Piper and I have never met in person before but we know each other from the online CF community. Two months ago she had a double lung transplant and let me tell ya, she is rocking it so hard!! She’s doing so well that she met me on the Upper East Side at an Austrian cafe called Sabarsky, a part of the Neue Museum.
(meine Fruhstuck!) That egg is a challenge!
When you meet another person with CF it is such a cool and surreal moment. An instant connection is usually made because we share so much and it is just cool to be able to talk in CF & hospital language to someone who knows!
Let me say that I felt mini when I was with Piper, she is tall!! CF patients aren’t really known for their height but she slipped through the cracks. My daddy is 6′7” but I didn’t get any of that height. In the pic above I am standing on something and she is leaning down…so sad.
After breakfast we hopped a cab to Piper’s favorite and “best ice cream in the city…” GROM down in the village. I had a scoop of the Espress and the Hazlenut. Well she is right, that gelato is so delicious! You must try! We walked and talked and even checked out the studio where she does gyrotonics, a form of total body exercise that blew my mind. I must do this!
On our adventure we talked about food of course. As you know we all have to eat a lot to maintain any sort of weight. It’s a common bond we have. She mentioned Indian food which immediately made my mouth water. So, naturally after we said our goodbyes I walked straight to Whole Foods and loaded up a box full of Indian food. Once I got back to my Uncle’s place I threw that food down as if I hadn’t eaten two breakfasts and gelato just a couple of hours ago. This is why I love you CF! I get to meet amazing friends and eat a lot.
Fun day and fun siesta. I need to move to NYC asap..it feels like home now.

That’s awesome that you two were able to meet up for one on one hangout time! You’ll be in NYC when it’s right, kid.
Peaceful Things.
