Hey ya’ll!
I gotta say I had the best couple of days this week in Salt Lake City and am so glad we trucked ahead to stay an extra night there. I was able to finally meet and hang with my friend Somer who lives there and also happens to have CF. I need to make this clear, CF patients are incredible! Ok now that that is out of the way…Somer and her friend met me and my dad for dinner the first night we rolled in. We talked and laughed a ton and had a great time. Last night we met up again for dinner and had a darn good time! Lots of laughs, so much our cheeks hurt! We met this morning for some Starbucks then she took us over to her dad’s house.. ok, ready for this? There are animals, wild animals, everywhere in the house.

It is fascinating. If I lived there I would never sleep because I swear the dik dik was talking to me..anyway her dad hunts these animals and then donates the meat to the village where he gets them. Pretty cool!

After our wild adventure Somer went home to get her Vespa, oh yeah forgot to mention that..she rides a Vespa too!
Her mom and her mom’s boyfriend brought over his big truck, aka Boss Hoss, to snap some shots with..check it out:

The coolest thing was that the three of them led us out of SLC today. I followed the gigantic Hoss and my dad followed me. So nice of them and we actually didn’t get lost. Those streets are crazzzy there.
Our trip from Salt Lake City to Delta was about 120 miles and we knocked that out pretty fast. I did hit the 1,000 mile mark on Blitz..a lot of miles!

We didn’t see a place to eat the entire stretch today. We were starving so when we got to Delta we hit up the Pizza House. This place makes a great wheat crust veggie pizza! The two people working there were so great. They donated our meal and I want to give them a really big shout out and thank you!

Since it was so early I decided it would be sweet to hop on my and ride for 20 or so miles. Ya know, to get a head start on tomorrows long day. On my ride I ran over a dead rattle snake that honestly freaked me out a little bit. Well I got about 5.5 miles into the ride and had a flat tire. I got back to the hotel to change the tire and get this…the rattlesnakes fang was in my tire!!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS and awesome at the same time!
Tomorrow we are off to Caliente, NV. I took German in high school but if I remember correctly, caliente means warm, right? We will be on the loneliest road in America. 90 miles without anything..I made pb+j’s and packed a ton of fruit to take for lunch. Maybe a little picnic in the desert!
Rock CF,
Emily
