MENTAL WELLNESS STARTS NOW.
The world of cystic fibrosis has seen an enormous amount of change throughout the last few decades. For those living with CF who have lived long enough to experience these incredible advancements in medicine, it has opened the door to a new set of challenges that may have once been an afterthought to some. These challenges such as career opportunities, unexpected physical adaptations, retirement planning, etc. can create a high amount of strain and take a toll on one’s mental health.
The Ignite program shifts the focus from the Foundation’s primarily exercise/events driven catalog and turns the attention back on the patient’s mental wellness. We aim to provide those living with cystic fibrosis a variety of opportunities to find peace or a brief period of mental rest from the stresses that CF and daily life may bring.

Mindful meditation
We partner with local CF caregiver and certified yoga therapist, Missi Chenier to bring you periodic Mindful Meditation sessions, hosted via Zoom. Yoga therapy can help patients learn effective ways to reverse pain and discomfort and self-activate their own sense of comfort, restfulness, strength, and composure through breathing, meditation, and if appropriate, adaptive movement.

WELLNESS CHECK VIDEOS
We continued our partnership with Missi to develop mental wellness exercise tutorials, known as ‘daily emergency breaks.’ on our social media channels.
These videos include basic tutorials on popular seated and resting techniques that allow the community to participate in mentally stimulating exercises on their own time. Videos to be posted periodically.
